Oxidation Atmospheres When Firing Pottery

One of the firing styles that Pottery Clay want you to know is Oxidation Firing which is the firing that allows air or oxygen to combine with the fuel and complete combustion.

The internal characteristics of the kiln when oxidation firing is clean and smoke-free. Oxygen will not be drawn out of metal oxides which are pigments in the clay and in the glaze to be used in the firing process since there is more than enough oxygen. The color of the workpiece is therefore the color of metal oxides such as copper glaze. Oxidation firing will produce green color of copper oxides and there will be oxygen when firing. (Oxygen)
