Usage Techniques and Precautions
- Technique for creating a wavy pattern (Wiggle Cut): In addition to straight cuts, if the potter holds the wire taut and wiggles their wrist up and down in a zigzag motion while cutting through the clay, the cut surface of the clay will create a "natural wavy pattern." This is commonly used to further shape pieces to showcase cool clay patterns on teacups or vases in a studio craft style.
- Maintenance: After use, clean any clay residue from the wire. Avoid letting the wire get tangled or bent, as a kink in the wire makes it more prone to breaking when pulled with force next time.
