Crackle Matte Clear is developed for medium temperature firing. When 2-3 layers are applied, fine cracks will appear on the surface. If you want to make the crackle pattern more prominent, after firing, you can apply black acrylic paint or ink over the surface and then wipe it off, allowing the color to seep into the cracks.
Cone 6 oxidation firing (Image 1): Crackle Matte Clear is a translucent, soft-touch matte glaze with a semi-translucent appearance that produces fine crackle patterns.
Cone 10 reduction firing (Image 2): No change.
TIP:
-
Glaze Application: Apply or spray at least 2 coats to achieve a clear crackle pattern.
-
Highlighting Cracks: After firing, if you want to highlight the cracks, apply black acrylic paint or ink over the piece and wipe it off, allowing the color to fill the crackle lines.
