HEX-65-ACC Clay Extruder Die / Disc is a perforated stainless steel die plate designed for use with a clay extruder. It is intended to reduce the effort required to form clay into long, consistent shapes.
Main Uses
-
Extruding clay into specific shapes: It is locked at the nozzle end of the clay extruder. When clay is loaded into the barrel and the lever or plunger is pressed, the clay is forced through the perforations in the die plate, immediately emerging as long strands with the cross-sectional shape of that particular die (e.g., thick round, flat, triangular, or square shapes).
-
Forming decorative elements and handles: Ideal for making cup handles, jar handles, or linear structures for weaving, braiding, and attaching as decorations on ceramic pieces. It ensures clay strands have perfectly uniform thickness along their entire length, replacing traditional hand-rolling methods.
-
Extruding clay coils: Can be used to extrude consistently sized round clay coils for convenient and quick formation of vessels using the coil pottery technique.
Highlights
-
Multiple patterns on one disc: The die plate features various sizes and designs of geometric and curved perforations, allowing potters flexibility in choosing the appropriate pattern for their work. A blank disc serves as a barrier to enable only the desired pattern openings.
-
Strong, thick stainless steel material: The plate is made from thick, smooth stainless steel, offering very high durability. It does not warp or bend under the immense pressure from the clay, and clay residue is easy to clean off.
