Mayco Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes Jungle Gems™ glazes transform beautifully when fired, as tiny crystal fragments melt into intricate colors and patterns, especially when fired at medium to high temperatures.
Use this glaze to add vibrant color and striking pattern effects to your work. It can be used alone or in combination with other glazes, such as Stoneware Glazes, Fundamentals® Underglazes, and more.
Instructions for use
- It is always advisable to test before use at your desired burning temperature and check the label for “Special Notes” on each paint.
- 1 layer will give a translucent finish. If you apply more, it will gradually become more opaque. It is recommended to apply 2-3 layers to get full and even color.
- A soft fan brush such as CB604 #4 or CB618 #8 Soft Fan should be used to apply the glaze.

Stir frequently during use as crystals will settle at the bottom of the bottle. You may need to redistribute the crystals in the final layer.
Burning warning
- When firing at high temperatures, the glaze will flow more. Apply it in thin, even layers, and avoid applying too much crystal to the lower part of the work, especially vertical work, as the crystals may flow down and stick to the kiln shelves.
- It is recommended to place tiles or biscuits that are not used as a support for the workpiece to prevent the glaze from flowing onto the shelf.
