CR-54 is coated in a shiny purple glaze that, when fired, “breaks up” and coalesces into irregularly sized and shaped raised patterns. The result is a surface full of natural patterns that are difficult to predict, giving each piece a unique charm, both tactilely and visually.
How to use
- Apply 1–4 coats of glaze on the bisque fired at Cone 04 temperature.
- Wait for each layer to dry almost completely, but not too much to crack.
- Crawl type coatings will develop small cracks as they dry, so handle the workpiece with care.
- For greater durability, it can be applied over AMACO Celadon glaze or underglaze before firing.
The results obtained
- Applying multiple coats will result in larger coating spots and more cracks.
- Applying a thin layer will give you fine, bead-like particles.
- It is best to burn at Cone 5–6 for best results.
*It is a product that is safe for food contact.
Additional instructions
As raw materials may vary from production lot to production lot, it is recommended to test burn on test sheet before actual use every time.
