The Kiln Ice glaze family is inspired by ancient glazes called Guan or Snowflake glaze. Its distinctive feature is a network of fine cracks (crazing) spread across the surface. Once fired, the glaze is translucent, but the areas where crazing occurs appear slightly opaque, creating a beautiful and varied dimension and texture. Glaze application and firing techniques may result in different outcomes each time.
This glaze is food-safe, but due to its durability, it is not recommended for direct food contact surfaces. Additionally, since the raw materials used in production vary from batch to batch, it is recommended to fire a test tile before actual use every time.
