PRIB-003 Stainless Steel Rib Set (10 pieces). Ribs are tools used for shaping on a pottery wheel and for smoothing surfaces. This tool set is made from thin spring stainless steel, offering excellent flexibility, easy spring back to shape, and sharp edges that cut clay smoothly.
Stainless steel ribs are commonly used for "trimming excess clay to refine shape" and "smoothing the clay surface" in both wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery. Each shape in the set has a specific function.

- Dry Trimming / Scraping Technique: Stainless steel ribs have sharper edges than rubber ribs. When the clay is leather-hard to bone-dry (chocolate-hard), potters can use these metal sheets perpendicular (90 degrees) to the piece and gently scrape. The rough clay will come off as fine powder, helping to create a perfectly smooth surface before firing.
- Wash and Dry Immediately: Although made of stainless steel, after use, clay residue should be washed off and the tool dried thoroughly and immediately. Avoid soaking in water to maintain the shine and spring of the metal sheet for a long time.
