SPD-KNIFE-white Carving knife for ceramic pieces, used for carving patterns on clay surfaces. Made of stainless steel, size 1.2x15.3 cm (blade length 4.5 cm).

A standard versatile tool in ceramics and pottery. The slender, pointed blade structure is designed specifically for cutting and shaping clay.

Usage

• Cutting clay slabs: Used for smoothly and precisely cutting clay slabs in straight lines or curved patterns/shapes as desired.

• Perforating and piercing: With its sharp, pointed blade, it is suitable for piercing through clay walls to create openwork patterns, or for cutting out openings for ceramic lamps, or aroma diffusers.

• Trimming and removing seam lines: Use the blade to trim and refine the edges of vessel mouths, bases, or to scrape off slip seam lines (fettling lines) that occur after removing the piece from plaster molds, ensuring a smooth finish.

• Scoring for joining: The knife tip can be used to score crosshatch patterns on the surface of leather-hard clay to prepare the area for applying slip to join clay parts together, such as attaching cup handles.
