SPD-KNIFE-red carving knife, used for ceramic pieces to carve patterns on the clay surface. Made of stainless steel, size 1.2x15.3 cm (blade length 4.0 cm).

A standard multi-purpose tool for ceramics and sculpting. It features a slender, pointed blade, specifically designed for trimming and shaping clay.

Applications

• Cutting clay slabs: Used for smoothly and precisely cutting clay slabs along straight lines or desired curved patterns/shapes.

• Piercing and perforating: With its sharp, tapered blade, it is ideal for piercing clay walls to create openwork patterns or to make openings for lamps, aroma diffusers in ceramic work.

• Trimming and smoothing seams: Use the blade to trim and refine the edges of vessel rims, bases, or to scrape off and smooth fettling lines that appear after removing the piece from a plaster mold.

• Scoring for attachment: The knife tip can be used to score crosshatch patterns on leather-hard clay surfaces, preparing the area for applying slip to join clay pieces together, such as attaching cup handles.
