A flat wire-end tool is a handle (often wooden) with metal wire loops attached to both ends. These loops are "flat and sharp" and bent into various shapes such as circles, triangles, or squares.

Primary Uses

- Removing clay: Used to scrape off unwanted clay to refine shapes (e.g., when trimming the foot of a pot on a potter's wheel).
- Finishing surfaces and hollowing out clay: Used to hollow out the inside of pottery to reduce weight and prevent cracking during firing.
- Creating patterns: Used to carve grooves to create consistent textures or patterns according to the shape of the wire loop.
