RZ-1 Oval sharpening stone with handle

RZ-1 Grinding Stone with Handle
Comfortable grip, easy to clean, and lightweight—excellent for ceramic work.

Grinding Stone with Handle is an essential tool in ceramics that helps refine your pieces, making them more polished and safer to use.

How to Use the Grinding Stone

The main purpose of this tool is to finish and smooth ceramic pieces after firing. Here’s how to use it:

• Smooth the base:
Use it to grind the bottom or foot ring of your ceramic piece, which may be rough or sharp after firing. This ensures a smooth finish, prevents cuts, and protects surfaces from scratches.
• Remove excess material:
Ideal for removing sand, kiln wash, or refractory particles that may stick to the piece after firing.
• Fix minor imperfections:
If glaze has slightly dripped onto the base, you can gently grind it off (take care not to damage the main body of the piece).

Tips for Effective Use

• Choose the right angle:
The pointed tip allows you to reach tight areas and small edges with precision.
• Apply moderate pressure:
Use steady, even pressure—avoid pressing too hard, as it may cause chipping or cracking.
• Keep it clean:
After use, brush off ceramic dust to keep the stone ready for the next use.
