KEANE Clay Porcelain

This white semi-porcelain stoneware clay, packaged in approximately 10 kilograms, is an excellent choice for potters seeking flexibility in their work, as it can be used for a variety of sculpting applications, including throwing and handbuilding.

Burning process and outstanding features

This clay formula has the special property of being translucent and will become completely vitrified at a temperature of Cone 10 (1300°C).

• Bisque Firing: The optimum temperature is 1000°C (Cone 05), with a shrinkage rate of approximately 6.7% and a relatively high water absorption of 15.5%.
• Glaze Firing: The recommended temperature is 1300°C (Cone 10). In this glaze firing, the clay shrinks up to 12.9% and has a very low water absorption rate of only 0.22%, indicating a strong glassy consistency.

Color after burning

The color of the piece after firing depends on the atmosphere in the kiln.

• If burned in an oxidation atmosphere, the workpiece will be white and clean.
• If burned in a reduction atmosphere, the piece will produce a beautiful blue-gray color.
