HCT-1 Clay Cutter

HCT-1 Adjustable Clay Cutting Wire is a tool for slicing raw clay into slabs of uniform thickness. It is commonly used in ceramic slab building.

Main Uses

• Slicing clay slabs to uniform thickness: Place it over a large lump of raw clay and drag the tool frame down to slide it through the clay. The cut from the wire will separate the clay into perfectly even slabs, replacing the traditional method of using two wooden guides.

• Adjustable thickness to suit your needs: The tool is designed with locking nuts at both ends of the handle that can be loosened to move the black roller shaft up and down, setting the distance between the wire and the base. This allows potters to freely adjust the clay slab thickness as appropriate for their work (e.g., thick slabs for plates/thin slabs for lamps).

• Trimming and leveling wide pieces: Can be used to smoothly trim the surface of a clay lump or cut wide clay blocks. The roller shaft helps to guide the wire to cut through the clay in a straight plane, preventing it from leaning or sagging due to hand pressure.
