Product Details

PKNH-001 Bamboo Hole Cutters are traditional tools made from hollowed-out bamboo with sharp, angled tips. They are ideal for pottery work.

Primary Uses

  1. Drilling and Reaming Holes: Press the sharp tip onto the clay (at a leather-hard or good plastic stage), then gently twist and ream. The angled and hollow tip will cleanly cut and push out the clay, creating perfectly round holes without distorting the clay.

    • Often used to drill drainage holes in plant pots, ventilation holes in ceramic lamps, or holes for water in various pieces.

  2. Scraping/Fluting / Surface Decoration: The angled edge can be used to scrape grooves (Fluting) on the surface of the piece to create natural vertical or striped patterns.

  3. Scooping or Shaping: The angled tip, similar to a parrot's beak, can also be used to scoop clay, apply clay, or remove excess clay from corners.

  • Clay Does Not Stick to the Tool: The natural properties of bamboo allow it to absorb a small amount of moisture, which prevents sticky clay from adhering to it as much as metal tools. This makes it easy to drill and remove the clay.

  • Available in 3 Sizes: You can choose the appropriate size based on the desired diameter of the hole.
