Amaco Cosmos Glaze, CO-24 Blue Starlight

AMACO CO-24 Blue Starlight from the Cosmos Glazes (CO) series, a crystalline/phase glaze for medium to high fire.

Characteristics and Color Variation

This is a dark-toned glaze that is fluid and produces crystals.

• Cone 5: Yields large crystals with blue and violet highlights on a dark surface.
• Cone 6: The color transforms to a bright gold surface.

Application Techniques and Recommendations

• Application: We recommend applying 4 coats on Cone 04 bisqueware.
• Internal Ventilation of the Piece: For best results, we recommend leaving the inside or back of the piece unglazed.

Firing Schedule

• Can be fired with a normal medium-speed firing program without the need for a special cooling schedule.
• If you want beautiful, next-level crystal growth, we recommend using a controlled cooling schedule to accelerate crystal development.

Caution Regarding Glaze Running: This glaze has a high tendency to run, so it is recommended to leave approximately 1/2 inch from the foot unglazed. Additionally, a drip tray or soft firebrick should be used to protect kiln shelves from glaze drips.

Food Safety

• Although considered food safe according to standards after firing, it is not recommended for direct food contact surfaces due to concerns about surface durability.
