Amaco Cosmos Glaze, CO-03 Event Horizon

AMACO CO-03 Event Horizon, part of the Cosmos Glazes (CO) series, is a crystalline/phase glaze for mid to high-fire.

Characteristics and Color Changes

It is a dark-toned glaze that is fluid/flowy and develops crystals.

• Cone 5: Produces large crystals with blue & violet highlights on a dark surface.
• Cone 6: The color transforms to a bright gold surface.

Application Techniques and Recommendations

• Application: We recommend applying 4 coats on Cone 04 Bisqueware.
• Ventilation within the piece: For best results, it is recommended to leave the inside or back of the piece unglazed.

Firing Schedule

• Can be fired with a normal medium-speed firing program without the need for a special cooling schedule.
• If you want beautiful, enhanced crystals (next level), we recommend using a controlled cooling schedule to accelerate crystal growth.

Caution Regarding Glaze Running: This glaze has a high tendency to run. Therefore, it is recommended to leave approximately 1/2 inch from the foot unglazed. Additionally, a drip tray should be used, or soft firebricks should be placed on the kiln shelf to prevent glaze drips.

Food Safety

• Although considered food safe after firing according to standards, it is not recommended for direct food contact surfaces due to concerns about surface durability.
