PGLZT-304 Mini Dipping Tongs (Scissor-style) with usage and care instructions:
How to Use
  1. Gripping Technique: One side of these tongs is a "Fork" and the other is a "Needle."

    • Use the fork side to support the piece from the outside or underneath, acting as a base to bear the weight.

    • Use the needle side to gently secure the piece from the inside or an inconspicuous spot to hold it firmly in place.

  2. Controlling Grip Pressure: The scissor-style handle allows for precise control of grip pressure, ideal for small, delicate pieces. Apply just enough pressure to hold the piece without it slipping.

  3. Dipping and Shaking off Excess Glaze: Dip the piece into the glaze, then lift and gently flick your wrist or rotate the piece slightly to allow excess glaze to run off evenly, preventing it from pooling in one spot.

  4. Releasing the Piece: Carefully place the piece onto a firing rack or stilts. Then, slowly release your grip to avoid the needle tip scratching the wet glaze surface.

Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Clean the pivot point thoroughly: The most important spot is the "scissor joint" because glaze tends to get trapped there easily. Wash it in clean water while moving the tongs back and forth to ensure all residue is removed.

  • Dry completely: Even with plastic-covered handles, you should dry the metal parts immediately after washing to prevent rust that might form in small crevices.

  • Maintain needle tip sharpness: The key to these small tongs is their sharpness, to leave minimal marks on the piece. If the tip becomes dull, gently sharpen it with a fine file or sandpaper to keep it sharp.

  • Storage: It is recommended to hang them or place them in a separate tray. Avoid storing them with heavy tools, as the relatively thin tongs might bend or deform.
