PGLZT-304 Mini Dipping Tongs (Scissor-Type) Usage and Maintenance Guidelines

How to Use

  1. Gripping Technique: This tong model has a "fork" on one side and a "single needle" on the other.

    • Use the fork side to support the piece from the outside or bottom, acting as a base for weight distribution.

    • Use the single needle side to gently secure the piece from the inside or an inconspicuous spot, ensuring it is held firmly.

  2. Controlling Grip Pressure: The scissor-type handle allows for precise control over grip pressure, which is ideal for small, delicate items. Apply just enough pressure to prevent the piece from slipping.

  3. Dipping and Glaze Removal: Dip the piece into the glaze, then gently flick your wrist or rotate the piece slightly to allow excess glaze to run off evenly, preventing it from pooling in one spot.

  4. Releasing the Piece: Carefully place the piece onto a firing rack or stilts, then slowly and cautiously release your grip to avoid scratching the wet glaze with the needle tips.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Clean the Pivot Point Thoroughly: The most crucial area is the "scissor joint", as glaze tends to accumulate there easily. Wash it in clean water while moving the scissors open and closed to ensure all residue is removed.

  • Dry Completely: Although the handles are plastic-coated, the metal parts should be wiped dry immediately after washing to prevent rust in small crevices.

  • Maintain Needle Sharpness: The essence of small tongs is their sharpness, which minimizes marks on the piece. If the tips become dull, use a fine file or sandpaper to gently sharpen them.

  • Storage: It is recommended to hang them or place them in a separate tray. Avoid storing them with heavy tools, as the relatively thin tong arms may bend or warp.
