Amaco Cosmos Glaze CO-6 Supernova

Supernova is a high-flow, semi-translucent, creamy white glaze with a crystalline surface resembling frost on a window. It has an opalescent sheen and leans more towards a cream tone than a pure white.

Application: Bisque fired pottery at Cone 04
Number of coats: 4 coats

Firing and Techniques

Firing Temperature: This glaze performs best at Cone 5 but can be fired up to Cone 6.
Special Recommendations: For best results, leave the inside or back of the piece unglazed.
Firing Cycle: Can be fired in a normal cycle (medium speed) without special controlled cooling programming. However, if you want to enhance crystal growth, controlled cooling is recommended.

Precautions

Flow: Glazes in this family tend to flow easily. It is recommended to leave about half an inch unglaed from the foot of the piece. Additionally, use a drip tray or soft firebrick to protect the kiln shelf.

Food Safety

Food Safe?: Yes (Food Safe). However, due to surface durability factors, this glaze is not recommended for direct food contact surfaces.
