Mudtools "V Shaped Mouth"

The Mudtools "Dragtool" V Shaped Mouth is a premium carving tool featuring a triangular or V-shaped wire head. It is ideal for creating texture, carving grooves, and performing sgraffito on ceramic pieces where clear, consistent, and angular lines are desired.

How to Use

1. Prepare the ceramic piece: Use on ceramic pieces that are leather-hard, allowing for precise cuts without crumbling or breakage.
2. Drag to create grooves: Hold the handle firmly, place the sharp tip of the V-shaped wire head onto the ceramic surface, and "drag" it towards you to carve out grooves with angled sides.

Key Benefits

• Sharp V-Groove: The triangular wire head creates grooves with a sharp, deep point and wide, sloping edges. This is ideal for carving geometric patterns, grid lines, or creating channels to separate glazes.
• Control line thickness with pressure: The sharp wire tip allows the potter to easily control line size. Light pressure produces fine lines, while increased pressure causes the V-head to remove more clay, widening the groove according to the angle.
• High-grade, durable, smooth material: The blade is made from a special grade of stainless steel, making it sharp and durable. It glides smoothly through grog-filled clay. The thick, flat black polymer-coated handle absorbs pressure, allowing for precise and smooth line drawing.
