SPD-KNIFE-blue Engraving knife used for ceramic pieces to carve patterns on the clay surface. Made of stainless steel, size 1.2x15.3 cm (blade length 3.7 cm).

A standard versatile tool in ceramics and sculpting. The slim, pointed blade structure is specifically designed for trimming and shaping clay.

Applications

• Cutting clay slabs: Used for smoothly and precisely cutting clay slabs along straight lines or desired curved patterns/shapes.

• Piercing and perforating: With its sharp, tapered blade tip, it's ideal for piercing clay walls to create intricate openwork patterns, or for cutting openings for ceramic lampshades or aroma diffusers.

• Trimming and removing seam lines: Use the blade to trim and refine the edges of vessel rims, bases, or to scrape off and smooth fettling lines that appear after removing pieces from plaster molds.

• Scoring for attachment: The knife tip can be used to score cross-hatch marks on the surface of leather-hard clay to prepare the area for applying slip to attach clay pieces, such as attaching mug handles.
