PSK-031 Kiln Furniture Set for setting workpieces in the kiln. *Sold as a set of 3 pieces. This is a very important piece of kiln furniture for supporting ceramic workpieces during glaze firing.
How to use
-
Supporting fully glazed pieces: Used to support the base of vessels (e.g., plates, bowls, cups, or decorative items) when the piece has been fully glazed down to the bottom. This raises the piece from the kiln shelf, preventing the molten glaze from sticking to the shelf and damaging both the piece and the shelf.
-
Reducing defects on the base of pieces: The sharp, small points of the wire will leave only tiny pin marks on the base of the piece after firing. These can be easily removed with sandpaper or a grinding stone, which is much easier than dealing with glaze melted onto the shelf.
Highlights
-
Refractory structure with high-temperature resistant wire: The triangular base is made of durable refractory ceramic that can withstand the high temperatures in a ceramic kiln without melting, warping, or weakening under the weight of the work.
-
Flexible mixed-size set: The set typically includes stands of various sizes and widths, allowing the kiln operator to choose the appropriate scale for each piece's base width, ensuring balance and preventing pieces from tilting and falling during firing.
