Main Uses

• Pressing curved shapes and forming bowls: Used to press onto a flat clay slab, pushing the clay to bulge into a curved shape according to the hemisphere mold. Ideal for creating bowl bottoms, cups, container lids, or sculptures with consistent convex curves.

• As an internal anvil for paddling: The handle is inserted into the vessel, using the curved head as an internal support (anvil) while paddling the clay surface from the outside. This helps to compact the clay and shape flat forms into smooth curves without collapsing the clay.

• Smoothing and kneading the internal curved surface of the piece: The curved head can be rolled along the inner clay wall of a bowl or pot to eliminate seams and smooth the surface, making it even and seamless.
