KINF-627 Kiln Wash

Kiln Wash  A high-temperature protective coating designed to prevent melted glazes from dripping and permanently fusing to kiln shelves.

Usage

• Mixing: Mix the dry kiln wash powder with clean water until it reaches a smooth, cream-like consistency.
• Application: Apply 1–2 thin, even coats onto the top surface of the kiln shelf using a brush, allowing it to dry completely before firing.
• Surface Protection: Acts as a sacrificial layer that makes glaze drips easy to remove without damaging the underlying shelf.

Maintenance

• Dry Storage: Keep the container tightly sealed in a dry environment to avoid clumping and moisture buildup.
• Inspect and Reapply: Reapply a fresh coat whenever the protective layer peels, wears thin, or after scraping away glaze drips.
• Dust Protection: Wear a dust mask when handling and mixing the dry powder to prevent dust inhalation.
