Product Details
F1#2 Wooden Rib or Wooden Trimming Tool is designed for shaping, smoothing, and forming ceramic pieces, both hand-built and wheel-thrown.
Usage
- Smoothing and Shaping: Used for pressing against the surface of the work while the wheel is spinning, to smooth and evenly stretch the clay surface, remove fingerprints, and help create rounded, curved shapes (such as the belly of a bowl or the curve of a vase) for a smooth and beautiful proportion.
- Removing Water and Air Bubbles: Used to scrape excess water from the surface of the piece during shaping, to prevent the clay from becoming too wet or soft and collapsing, and to help compact the clay body.
- Scraping Excess Clay from the Base: The straight edge or curved angle of the wooden rib can be easily used to scrape away excess clay from the base of the piece attached to the pottery wheel.
Highlights
- Versatile Design: The wood has different curved edges on each side and a small curved notch at the tip, allowing for various ways to conform to the curves of the work piece.
- Hole in the Middle: Designed for a firm finger grip, preventing it from slipping out of hand easily when hands are wet with water or slip.
