C-26#04 Rib/Scraper This tool is designed for compressing, scraping, and shaping ceramic pieces, including both hand-built and wheel-thrown works.
- Primary Uses (Smoothing and Shaping): Used for pressing against the surface of the work while the wheel is spinning to compress the clay surface evenly, remove fingerprints, and help shape rounded forms (such as bowl bellies or vase curves) for a smooth, beautiful finish.
- Removing Water and Air Bubbles: Used to scrape off excess water from the surface of the work during shaping to prevent the clay from becoming too wet or soft and collapsing, and to help compress the clay body.
- Scraping Excess Clay from the Base: The straight edge or angled scraping part of the wooden rib can be easily used to scrape off excess clay at the base of the work attached to the potter's wheel.
