Texturing: Used to drag across the surface of clay slabs or sculpted pieces to create straight lines, wavy lines, or checkered patterns. This adds texture to the work, making it more dimensional, interesting, and giving it a consistent handcrafted look.

Scoring to Join Pieces: This is a very efficient tool for scoring the surface of leather-hard clay to prepare it for slip, used when joining different parts together (e.g., attaching mug handles or decorative elements). It helps create a stronger bond than scoring with a needle one line at a time.

Smoothing Surfaces: The smooth, rounded bottom of the handle can also be used to scrape, smooth, or press the clay surface in concave areas.

Variety of Sizes (C-16#1 to C-16#4): The combs range in width from very wide to narrow, allowing you to choose the appropriate size for different areas of your work.

Dense Natural Wood Material: The comb itself is made from smooth, strong wood. The teeth do not easily bend or break when pressed into clay, and the clay does not tend to stick in the grooves, making it easy to clean.
