Amaco Cosmos Glaze, color CO-05 Dark Matter

Amaco Cosmos CO-5 Dark Matter is a high-flow, dark-toned glaze with shifting violet undertones and large rainbow crystals when fired at Cone 6. When fired at Cone 5, the crystals will be smaller and more tightly clustered.

Application: Apply to Cone 04 bisque ware.

Number of Coats: Apply 4 coats.

Recommendation: For best results, leave the inside or back of the piece unglazed.

Firing: Can be fired in a normal medium-speed firing program without needing a special cooling schedule. However, to take the results of this glaze to the next level, a controlled cooling schedule can be used to enhance crystal growth.

Flow Warning: This group of glazes tends to flow easily. It is recommended to stop applying glaze approximately half an inch (0.5 inches) from the base/foot of the piece. Additionally, you can use a drip tray or soft firebrick to protect the kiln shelf.

Food Safety: This glaze is food safe, but due to the durability of the surface, it is not recommended for direct food contact areas.

Due to potential variations in raw materials used in the manufacturing process, we recommend conducting test firings on a test tile before actual use with each new batch number.
