Flame Orange Velvet Underglaze is a carrot orange that fires to a bright reddish-orange at Cone 05. The color darkens at Cone 5 and shifts to a deep persimmon at Cone 10. A clear glaze will greatly enhance the fired color of the underglaze at all temperatures.

For Flame Orange, we recommend using HF-10 Clear.

We also recommend HF-9 Zinc-Free Clear for use with underglazes to reduce the possibility of color shifts.

Underglazes, stains, and most oxide colors are best when used with a zinc-free clear glaze.
Additional Recommendation: Due to potential variations in raw materials between batches, we recommend firing test tiles for each new batch of glaze.
