Mayco Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes Jungle Gems™ glazes beautifully transform during firing as small glass crystal fragments melt into intricate colors and patterns, especially when fired at medium to high temperatures.
Use this glaze to add vibrant color effects and distinctive patterns to your work. It can be used alone or in conjunction with other glazes such as Stoneware Glazes, Fundamentals® Underglazes, and more.
Application Instructions
- Always test before actual use at your desired firing temperature and check the "Special Notes" section on the label for each color.
- One coat will yield a translucent finish. Applying more coats will gradually increase opacity. We recommend 2–3 coats for full and consistent color.
- Use a soft fan brush, such as CB604 #4 or CB618 #8 Soft Fan, to apply the glaze.

Stir frequently during use, as crystals will settle at the bottom of the bottle. You may need to redistribute the crystals evenly in the final coat.
Firing Precautions
- When fired at high temperatures, glazes will flow more. Apply in thin, graded layers and avoid applying crystals too thickly on the lower parts of the piece, especially on vertical pieces, as crystals may flow down and stick to the kiln shelf.
- Place unused tiles or bisque pieces underneath your work to prevent glaze from flowing onto the kiln shelf.
