"Nonsense in the Sense": Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch's First Solo Pottery Exhibition

Mr. Tiw - Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch, the third-generation heir of Tao Hong Tai Ceramic Factory in Ratchaburi Province, successfully opened his solo exhibition titled "Unsinn im Sinn" on November 25th. This exhibition marks his first solo ceramic exhibition in almost 10 years. Wasinburee chose to display his works at ATTA Gallery in Warehouse 30, Charoenkrung 30.

The atmosphere on the opening day of the exhibition was warm and inviting, as many artists, sculptors, and admirers of Wasinburee's ceramic works came to show their support. On this occasion, not only did Pottery Clay have the opportunity to participate in this historic exhibition in Wasinburee's life, but the artist also presented a lovely gift to Ms. Pink – Saranrat Panichsukpaisarn, Director of Pottery Clay Co., Ltd., whose birthday coincided exactly with the exhibition's opening day.

“Unsinn im Sinn!” or “Absurdity” is used to convey a sense of meaninglessness or an attempt to transcend the limitations of matter. Wasinburee reinterprets both good and bad memories, including his past studies and work, presenting them through each piece. He attaches great importance to ceramics, both in terms of its history and his personal connection to it.

Initially, "Unsinn im Sinn" might seem like a criticism, but upon closer examination of the artist's past work and life, this phrase actually conveys the opposite sentiment. It represents the underlying philosophy behind his work, every decision, and his beliefs. Many times, he chooses to do things that may seem illogical, simply driven by personal passion, conviction, or curiosity.

The exhibited works serve as a chronicle of the artist's life, thoughts, and memories. He chooses to use art pieces as a means of recording and releasing through a process of self-exploration, documenting the intersection of his life and ceramic art.

The exhibition "Absurdity: Unsinn im Sinn" by Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch is on display at ATTA Gallery from November 25, 2023, to January 14, 2024.
